BREATHING LIFE INTO IDEAS
Once an idea has been fully explored, these explorations come together in illustrative artwork. These illustrations explore the idea further in a form which is more polished and concrete like a storyboard for a film. Each photographic series has an illustration it relates to.
Often illustrations are made up from sketches scanned from the sketchbook. Digital compositing is a great way to experiment with placements and composition of a final image. The main illustration above is made completely from scanned sketchbook drawings.
Illustrative artwork is like a blueprint. It helps to determine what props need to be made for the photographic set, what photographs need to be taken for compositing, and what costume needs to be made to bring the character to life.
